LIDC (Long Island Dance Consortium) is an IRS 501© 3 non-profit organization consisting of members of the Long Island dance community committed to provide education, develop awareness and increase understanding of all forms of dance in order to expand and cultivate the dance audience on Long Island. Members include dance companies, dance professionals, dance advocates, dance studios and Arts Councils.
LIDC’s goal is to offer opportunities to young, aspiring dancers and professionals to work together in a mutually beneficial and non – competitive environment. Celebration of Dance, our annual two night showcase of dance on Long Island, is unique as it features close to 15 dance companies presenting classical and contemporary work in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Classical Indian Dance. Celebration of Dance has been held at the Long Island High School for the Arts and at SUNY Old Westbury.
Kaleidoscope of Dance, performed each summer at Huntington Arts Council’s Summer Arts Festival in Heckscher Park in Huntington and the Next Generation project for dancers 12 to 14 are collaborative performance events which have brought the dance community together with very positive results.
